<p>You made the cards but need to know <strong>how to organize finished handmade cards</strong>. I totally get it. I had cards here and there and recently decided to sit down and find a system that would work for me. </p>

<p>I will share my current system for organizing my completed cards. This method may not work for you, but it may solve your problem! </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="768" height="1024" src="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-7-768x1024.jpg" alt="how to organize finished handmade cards" class="wp-image-81891" srcset="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-7-768x1025.jpg 768w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-7-225x300.jpg 225w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-7-1151x1536.jpg 1151w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-7.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">WHAT TYPE OF CONTAINER SHOULD I STORE MY CARDS IN?</h2>

<p>There are tons of containers out there that can hold cards. I started off using small baskets from Dollar Tree. They work fine, but I didn&#8217;t like it. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="768" height="1024" src="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-3-768x1024.jpg" alt="black basket with homemade cards" class="wp-image-81895" srcset="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-3-768x1025.jpg 768w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-3-225x300.jpg 225w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-3-1151x1536.jpg 1151w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-3.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>Next I used a tiered hard plastic container that I bought at a garage sale. It was nice to be able to see the cards better because they were tiered, but I felt like the cards leaned forward and weren&#8217;t secure. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="1024" src="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-2-1024x1024.jpg" alt="tiered organizer with homemade cards" class="wp-image-81896" srcset="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-2-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-2-300x300.jpg 300w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-2-150x150.jpg 150w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-2-768x768.jpg 768w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-2.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>I found a container I am really liking and feel like it keeps my cards safe while still being accessible. The Scrapboook.com <a href="https://shrsl.com/4lmlz" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Craft Room Basics Small Envelope Organizer</a> is perfect for A2-sized cards. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1001" height="1024" src="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-4-1001x1024.jpg" alt="empty organizing container" class="wp-image-81894" srcset="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-4-1001x1024.jpg 1001w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-4-293x300.jpg 293w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-4-768x786.jpg 768w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-4.jpg 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1001px) 100vw, 1001px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">ORGANIZE CARDS BY CATEGORY</h2>

<p>Once I got the small envelope organizer, I needed to put my cards into categories so I could quickly find the right one. I went through all the different card categories and made a big alphabetical list. </p>

<p>I purchased the <a href="https://shrsl.com/4lmm8" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">4&#215;6 tabbed dividers</a> with labels and trimmed them down to fit in the container. You can also easily make your own dividers with cardstock. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="1024" src="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-1-1024x1024.jpg" alt="how to organize finished handmade cards" class="wp-image-81897" srcset="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-1-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-1-768x768.jpg 768w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Organize-finished-handmade-cards-1.jpg 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>The labels were used to write the card category. </p>

<p>Then, I sorted my cards into categories and put them into the small envelope organizers. I just had to order more organizers because I had more finished cards than I realized! Please note that this container size works for A2 cards. You will need the larger envelope organizers for larger-sized cards. Most of the cards I make are A2, so it works for me. </p>

<p><strong>Craft room ribbon storage ideas</strong> are important because ribbon can take up a lot of space. No matter what kind of crafts you create, these ribbon storage tips will help keep those ribbon spools where they need to be!</p>

</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">CRAFT ROOM RIBBON STORAGE IDEAS</h2>

<p>I know that not everyone has a craft room. These craft room ribbon storage ideas can help you organize whatever space you have. Keep reading to find some great ideas on how to store this important craft supply.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="768" height="1024" src="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-3-768x1024.jpg" alt="big jar of ribbon" class="wp-image-81586" srcset="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-3-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-3-225x300.jpg 225w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-3-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-3.jpg 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">LARGE JAR RIBBON STORAGE</h2>

<p>I recently changed the way I store most of my ribbon. I am talking about narrower ribbons, not the wide ribbons used for big bow-making or wreaths. Ribbon is such a great embellishment for my scrapbook layouts and cards. I had a TON of ribbon thrown in a tote in my IKEA Kallax unit.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This wasn&#8217;t the best way to quickly find the ribbon I wanted, LOL. I bought a HUGE 2-gallon jar and knew it would be perfect for my ribbon.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I got some tongue depressors and popsicle sticks in different sizes. Then, I wrapped the ribbon around the appropriate-sized stick and used a straight pin to secure the ribbon. I worked on this in the evening while I watched TV with my family.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Then I just put all the sticks in the jar, and it created a beautiful, colorful addition to my craft room. This is a simple and cheap organization method.&nbsp;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="768" height="1024" src="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-2-768x1024.jpg" alt="ribbon wrapped around popsicle sticks" class="wp-image-81585" srcset="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-2-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-2-225x300.jpg 225w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-2-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-2.jpg 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">PLASTIC ORGANIZER BOX</h2>

<p>Almost any craft store sells plastic organizer boxes. These used to be used for storing thread for cross-stitch. I remember my mom had several of these to store her thread.</p>

<p>Now, they are used for bead storage and anything else you can think of. These plastic boxes make a great place to store small amounts of ribbon. When you have less than 12 inches of a crafting ribbon, you may want to use this storage idea.</p>

<p>Get some flat cardboard ribbon holders (also called cardboard bobbins) and wrap the ribbon around the cardboard. There is a slit in the cardboard that you can secure the end of the ribbon in. If you don&#8217;t want to purchase the ribbon holders, you can make your own by cutting them out of cardboard.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I have 2 of these plastic container boxes, which I use to store small bits of ribbon that I will use as embellishments on cards. They are really perfect for loose ribbon in my craft stash.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="916" height="1024" src="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-4-916x1024.jpg" alt="plastic storage container with ribbon" class="wp-image-81587" srcset="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-4-916x1024.jpg 916w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-4-268x300.jpg 268w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-4-768x858.jpg 768w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-4.jpg 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 916px) 100vw, 916px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">RIBBON RACK</h2>

<p>Craft organization is big business. There are tons of different types and styles of ribbon racks you can buy. Small racks are for those with small ribbon stashes, and big racks are for those ribbon collectors.&nbsp;</p>

<p>These storage racks typically have a dowel rod that will go through the center of the rolls of ribbon. That allows you to cut off some ribbon without having to remove the spools of ribbon from the rack.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Some racks can be mounted on the wall, and others just stand on the floor or desktop. These work very well with large ribbon rolls.</p>

<p>If you don&#8217;t want to purchase a rack, you can make your own DIY ribbon storage rack with wooden dowels. Average But Inspired has a&nbsp;<a href="https://averageinspired.com/2023/04/diy-ribbon-holder.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">simple tutorial</a>&nbsp;to help you make your own ribbon rack.</p>

<p>If you want a super simple rack, then grab a tension rod or curtain rod and position it inside a closet or cabinet. Put the ribbon rolls on the rod, and you are done!&nbsp;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="924" src="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-6-1024x924.jpg" alt="room full of rolls of ribbon on wooden dowels" class="wp-image-81589" srcset="https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-6-1024x924.jpg 1024w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-6-300x271.jpg 300w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-6-768x693.jpg 768w, https://sweetscrapbooking.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/craft-room-ribbon-storage-ideas-6.jpg 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">UNDERBED STORAGE</h2>

<p>If you have tons of ribbon, the solutions above may not work for you. You may need a place to keep the ribbon out of the way but still easy to access. How about using the storage space under your bed? It is a simple solution for the big problem of too much ribbon! <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />&nbsp;</p>

<p>This doesn&#8217;t take up any wall space. It doesn&#8217;t take up any shelf space. And there is still very easy access to the ribbon when you need it.</p>

<p>Buy some underbed storage containers. There are two main types: fabric and plastic. The fabric containers usually have clear plastic on the top so you can see what is inside. There are handles, so it is easy to pull out. The plastic totes have lids and aren&#8217;t very tall, so they fit under most beds.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Depending on how much space you have under your bed and how much ribbon you have to store&#8230;you can buy several of these. Sort the ribbon by color to make it easy to find what you need.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">WALL BOX RIBBON STORAGE SYSTEM</h2>

<p>Another ribbon storage solution is to purchase a <a href="http://<a href=&quot;https://www.shareasale.com/m-pr.cfm?merchantID=7429&amp;userID=1051433&amp;productID=1212286158&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;>Best Craft Organizer &#8211; Wall Box Storage System &#8211; Washi Tape Storage &#8211; Kit 5</a>&#8221; target=&#8221;_blank&#8221; rel=&#8221;noreferrer noopener&#8221;>wall box storage system</a>. The one I am aware of is made by the brand, Best Craft Organizer. It is a plastic box that you hang on the wall. Inside the box are separate plastic containers that hold the ribbon. There are 5 plastic containers inside. It comes with a wall mount.</p>

<p>This really only works for smaller ribbon spools, but it is a good way to keep the ribbon in sight while you are crafting. If you have a smaller ribbon collection, keep this idea in mind.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">BASKETS OR BINS</h2>

<p>I don&#8217;t want to discount the very basic storage solution for ribbon—baskets or bins! Just throw all your ribbon spools into an empty basket or bin. This isn&#8217;t a glamorous way to store your ribbon, but at least the ribbon is all in one place and easy to find. </p>

<p>I stored my ribbon in a bin on my Kallax unit for YEARS, and it worked fine.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">SPICE RACKS FOR RIBBON</h2>

<p>Spice racks can be a great way to store ribbon. I wish I could credit someone for some of these great ribbon storage ideas, but it is hard to tell who the very first person was to come up with them!</p>

<p>When I say spice racks, I don&#8217;t mean the small countertop racks. I am talking about the larger hanging racks that people put on the inside of their pantry doors. These rack shelves are a good size for small to medium rolls of ribbon.</p>

<p>It is fun to sort the ribbon by color or pattern so it is visually appealing. If you don&#8217;t have the wall space for the large spice rack, then try putting it on the inside of your craft room closet door. You can store a large amount of ribbon with this idea.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">OPEN SHELVES</h2>

<p>Some people&#8217;s favorite way to store ribbon is on open shelves in their crafting space. The best part of this idea is you can see the beautiful ribbons. It also keeps the ribbon off your craft table and out of the way.</p>

<p>The best shelves to get are shelves with a lip. You can find floating shelves with a lip at a home improvement store and even some craft stores. These floating shelves are also popular for showcasing picture frames. The lip keeps the items on the shelf from falling off.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Try different sizes of shelves to accommodate large spools of ribbon.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Another form of way to store ribbon on open shelves is to use smaller wooden shelves with openings to hold the ribbon. This can be a very cute way to display your favorite ribbon too.</p>
