How to Use Rub-Ons in Your Card-Making

I love to make cards, but will be totally honest and say I get sick of stamping and die cutting all the time. Sometimes, I just want to be able to make a beautiful card fast. One of the quickest ways to make a card is to use rub-ons in your card-making.

What are Rub-Ons?

Rub-ons are decorative pictures or patterns that come on a backing sheet. The design is similar to a temporary tatoo or sticker without adhesive. The design is transferred to your project by rubbing on the top with a popsicle stick or other tool. Then you peel back the top sheet and the transfer rub-on is now on your project.

It is simple to use and they look amazing on the cardstock.

Supplies Used

I made all of these cards using ONE set of rub-ons. The set is so pretty that I couldn’t quit making cards with it.

Card #1 Camera

I used a set of Simple Stories Simple Vintage Flower Shoppe Rub-Ons for these cards.

The first card features a camera and floral setting. I added the sentiment using foam tape to pop it up. I loved this sentiment and used it repeatedly. This card is horizontal.

Card #2 Metal Container of Tulips

The next card features a collage of tulips in a vintage metal container. I also rubbed on a couple of hearts. I gave the card dimension by using foam tape on the sentiment.

Card #3 Wooden Chair

I love the old wooden chair in this design. The watering can has a floral arrangement in it. I added the “Happy Birthday” sentiment with foam tape. This is a great card for anyone’s birthday!
