Wedding Photography Checklist for Scrapbooking

I love a good checklist. It keeps me on track, and it’s also fun checking that little box! Who doesn’t love checking items off a list??

This is a comprehensive list and may include moments that you won’t have at your ceremony. No worries… cross that item off the list and focus on the tasks you want to document with pictures. These are your candid shots, that will be in addition to what the professional photographer takes.

The checklist is divided into three categories: pre-ceremony, ceremony, and post-ceremony.

Pre-Ceremony Photography Checklist

There are SO many things you can photograph before the actual ceremony starts. These behind the scenes photos will be cherished because the day will pass in a blur. It is fun to look back at what was actually happening on the big day.

Here are some things to remember to photograph:

  • Bride arriving to get ready
  • Wedding dress, bridesmaids’ dresses, shoes, accessories (yes, it is okay to photograph stuff without people!)
  • Bride and bridesmaids getting ready, doing hair and make-up
  • Getting dressed
  • Putting on the veil
  • The father of the bride’s expression when he sees his daughter
  • Bride pinning flower on her dad
  • Bride alone
  • Bridesmaids alone
  • Bridal bouqet and bridesmaid’s bouquets…alone and all together
  • Close-up shots of wedding invitations, jewelry, shoes, accessories, etc.
  • Groom arriving
  • Close-up shots of suits, shoes, men’s accessories
  • Groom and groomsmen getting ready
  • Groom and his father hugging
  • The groom pinning flower on his father
  • Groom alone
  • Groomsmen alone
  • Groom and his father
  • Groom and groomsmen cutting up and laughing
  • Gift table
  • The rings
  • Close-ups of the groom’s accessories like boutonnieres, cuff-links, ties, shoes, watch, etc.

Ceremony Photography Checklist

Remember, you can always ask friends or family to take some of these pictures for you during the ceremony. 🙂 Or just make sure the hired photographer has this list so you can focus on the ceremony instead of taking pictures.

Here are some shots you won’t want to miss during the ceremony.

  • Inside and outside of the venue
  • Guests arriving at the venue
  • Groom at the alter alone and with groomsmen
  • Bridesmaids entrance
  • Brides entrance
  • Grooms face when he sees his bride for the first time
  • Vows
  • Ring exchange
  • First kiss
  • Signing the registry and marriage license
  • Bride and groom at the alter

Post-Ceremony Photography Checklist

The fun starts up after the ceremony and there are still plenty of opportunities to take great photos.

  • Group photos of family and friends with the bride and groom
  • Newlyweds celebrating
  • Guests mingling
